How Do You Like Moodle?

Next time you visit the Moodle main page, there is a place at the top of the site where you can give feedback on how you feel about Moodle. Your thoughts are very important, so please take a few minutes to complete this feedback.

Thanks!

Moodle Rocks!

It is a very simple way to organize and display information.

Hi Mark,

My name is Cathy Fitzgerald. I am Jack Sterbenc's mom, a 7th grader at Priory.  We have had a big problem with Moodle.  I have communicated this to many people at Priory, but noone has been able to help us.

The problem is opening/downloading documents from Moodle, that have a "word" icon in front of the filename/link.  Both Jack and I have tried to do this using each of our computers at home.  On the other hand, my husband Ed tried from work and it worked fine.  So, some little item needs to be checked or unchecked to make this work for us at home.  But what is it???!!!

Opening all other documents, like powerpoiunt and non-Word files works fine.  It is just the Word documents--of which there are many across Social Studies, Science, Theology etc.  This has become an organizing nightmare as if my son Jack is not in class for some reason, he misses getting these hand-outs, can't do the homeowrk, and is then bind as he waits to be in that class again to ask for the hand-out.  Or worse, he has to ask to take a test late as he could not access the "Test Review" sheet.

Rebecca Harper said that she has nothing to do with Moodle.  Michele told me to try some basic things, all of which I had tried, but tried some more, none of which worked.  Teachers offer sympathy, but continue to put their worksheets ion Moodle as Word documents, causing me to have to e-mail them in the eveings to ask them to forward the worksheets as e-mail attachments.

It has been very frustrating!  More than once, it has caused Jack to get behind, and in one case, he did poorly on a test.

From our standpoint, if the teachers/school are going to use Moodle, then it should make sure all the students can use it too.  Otherwsie, it should be thrown out and go back to a system that allows all students to participate!  And not have to ask students ,their parents, and the teachers to all use a "one-off" non-standard process that takes everyone extra time!

I rarely use Moodle but tonight I was not able to log on to the main school website to check something on the calendar so I looked at Moodle. I am wondering what items get placed on the Moodle calendar? It does not seem to have everything that is on the main Priory calendar for example the Teacher Appreciation Lunch. Perhaps it is only a subset - a certain type of activity. It can become confusing to have different sources of information. Which calendar is the most up to date?
